Andy Larson, CPA

I have a bachelor’s degree with a double major in business administration and accounting from North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND.  I'm a CPA and a member of the AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants) as well as member of the ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives).  I have over 20 years of experience in accounting and finance roles across numerous industries.

I spent most my career in MN before a job transfer brought me to Tacoma in 2014.  I currently work for Sound Physicians in Tacoma which is a physician founded and led organization providing services across the acute episode of care through emergency medicine, critical care, hospital medicine, transitional care and advisory services. My title is a Regional Controller or Director or operational accounting responsible for Billing and Collections, Accounting, operational financial statements, and variance analysis for over 200 income statements with customers across the U.S.

While working in MN for Supervalu I was involved in organizing the internal fundraisers completed quarterly to raise money for the United Way.  The main events were “United Way Sales” where expiring inventory was sold to employees at a discount with all proceeds donated to the local United Way.  This was my first exposure to understanding the benefits of fundraising and the benefits associated with the services provided by the local chapter.

After living in Washington for nearly five years and focusing on work it is time to give back. I’ve seen the homeless in Tacoma and after seeing a person sleeping on the sidewalk daily near our office without a jacket or blanket I feel a personal conviction to help those in need.  There are also a lot of families who struggle to make ends meet and need help to make it through.  I believe the foundation of a strong community starts with strong families.

I’m interested in being a member of the Board of Directors to help think through strategies and ideas based on my business background. I’ve negotiated with customers and vendors and learned the most important thing is to listen and understand what their needs are and then find a way to execute to deliver on those needs.  I would also like to use my background in Accounting and Finance to be involved in the finance committee or other committees as needed.
