United Way of Pierce County rallied community members to work together in a new way to spark dialogue on complex social issues, by hosting A Concert and Conversation with Peter Buffett, son of investor Warren Buffett, at the Schneebeck Concert Hall at the University of Puget Sound on Tuesday.
United Way of Pierce County’s South Sound 211 operation will begin providing free Lyft rides to eligible clients in select cities in September
Recently, United Way Worldwide announced the launch of Ride United, a transportation access initiative that will help individuals in need overcome transportation barriers. Ride United launches with initial support from General Motors and Lyft, and leverages the strengths of local United Ways and the 211 network to address unmet transportation needs for individuals and families.
South Sound 2-1-1, operated by United Way of Pierce County, is a free, easy-to-remember number, available in Pierce, Lewis and Thurston Counties that helps people cut through what can be a confusing and overwhelming maze of information and resources. Recently, South Sound 2-1-1 has demonstrated excellence in the information and referral services field by successfully completing a detailed professional accredidation process administered by the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS).
