Where are the funds invested?

United Way of Pierce County (UWPC) is committed to achieving our bold goal of lifting 15,000 households out of poverty and into self-sufficiency by 2028! As our work to break down barriers to self-sufficiency has evolved, we have learned that we cannot effectively break the cycle of poverty unless we also address factors that impact the individual or family unit as a whole.

UWPC works with dozens of community partners to align our investments around a set of shared strategies designed to improve family stability and move more households toward thriving. For the 2025-2027 Community Investment process, we have four investment funds that all align with achievement of UWPC’s bold goal and our focus on equity and inclusion.

Guided by research and data, UWPC is focused on investing in programs/projects that create opportunities for individuals and families living below the Federal Poverty Level, as well as those considered ALICE (asset limited, income constrained while employed), to reach self-sufficiency.
